Dave Nelson is a widely published local surf photographer who shoots for Transworld surf magazine as well as other international magazines.

David Nelson(A.K.A. Nelly) was born August 12 1967 in West Covina, California. Growing up in Saratoga, Ca, his life consisted mainly of skate boarding and surfing. After high school Dave moved to Santa Cruz, Ca, and it was then that he gave some serious thought to being the man that made the magic happen, by being behind the camera, instead of in front of it.

Dave started taking photos of local surfers and skate boarders and began making a name for himself as a photographer. Thanks to his past of surfing and skating, this transition wasn't very difficult and his photos started getting published in local magazines and then began appearing in larger magazines such as Surfer, Surfing & Transworld Surf.

Dave's specialty as a surf photographer is shooting from the water with a fish eye lens and a water housing. Although his talents don't end there, Dave's travels around the world enable him to capture such beautiful photographs which depict his love for the ocean, nature and the people who live there...
